I have never had a problem adapting to the rubber finger grove grips on my 686's. For wood grips "cokes" are my preference for shooting. I've always wanted Rosewood Combat grips on my blued S&W 568 .357 Magnum ever since I saw them on Hickok45's stainless steel 686. Although they contrast better on the 686, they still look great on the 568. They look slim and tight on the 586, but more importantly, they feel nice and tight. Control of the gun feels infinitely better with these ...S&W 686-0 grip dilemma. I love to shoot my 686-0, sweet trigger, accurate to the 9's. My dilemma is the stock wood grips.
